"The bad news is my check engine light came on."
"The good news is this car has over 200,000 miles."
-My brother, the day after we spent 7 hours replacing the A/C compressor on his 2005 Civic.

Yes mine is back on after replacing exhaust & a lame attempt at cleaning EGR valve passages.
P0400 staring down. I'll have to actually do dome diagnostic.

His is a p0420 code. Looks like either an o2 sensor or the catalytic converter. We changed the cat and 02's out probably about 3 years ago.

I thought you were going to say:
Bad News my Check Engine Light is on
Good news is it's a Subaru
Subaru's are known to throw codes for nothing.....that's the joke.

CEL: The car industry's way of trolling us all. A set of headers is enough to trigger a CEL, but I bet that motherfucker stays black if you throw a rod.

On some vehicles such as some Subaru models an ECM reflash will fix the problem.

CEL functionality: Defined by law. Car is illegal and cannot be sold if lit when rod is thrown.
Right sentiment, wrong target :)
